Walk4water is a programm to earn money (by sponsoring) for projects in the third world. Pupils and students will walk together with your students. The last 6 km they will carry 6 L water in a bag on their back. This is what a kid in the third world has to carry every day to get water for their family.

We will donate the money to one of the projects:  http://www.akvo.org/rsr/projects/all/ . Find as many sponsors for your pupils/students in your homecountry as possible. Use page 14 of the guideance.

Idea: maybe you can do this on Worldwaterday 22 march with the students in your homeland.

Where to sleep:

  • The teachers can stay in a very nice hotel, which is in the same street as the school (the school and the hotel are neigbours).
We (Thea and André) can make reservations for you for this hotel if you mail details quickly!
The name of the hotel is: De Rooi Pannen. The costs for one room are normally (2 beds) per night € 49,- to € 59,- and breakfast is € 8,50 per person. But André got a very nice reduction and you only have to pay € 40,- per room (breakfast incl.).
  • I will try to put the students in pairs (2) at the families. If you want them to stay alone in a family (very good for the language), let me know. Girls will be put in families of our female students. Boys will stay at the families of our male students. There are no costs for the students to stay at the families (rules of the Comeniusprogramms). On workdays they will be supplied with breakfast and dinner. But we will allso have dinner with them in the restaurant of the hotel 1 or 2 times (cost  will be € 15,-).

Transport:

  • You can reach Breda by car and train. If you come by plane you can look for cheap tickets to the airport of:
    • Brussels (Belgium)
    • Amsterdam - Schiphol (NL)
    • Rotterdam (NL)
    • Eindhoven (NL)
  • You will need transport to come from the airport to the trainstation in Breda or Roosendaal. We can pick you up at the next trainstations with the minibuses of the school (no costs).
  • Idea for transport instead of airplane:
Everyday many trucks come to the Netherlands from all the countries of the EU. Maybe you can find a local entreprise and travel with a truck for a little bit of money. It will take more time, but you will see a lot of Europe and save the nature and money!

Costs

  • All the costs for excursions and tranportation after your arrival at the school and departure will be paid by us (Prinsentuin). We will make sure their will be bikes, minibuses, etc. Some things can be reached on foot, because they are near the school.
  • The costs for the lunch will be carried by us (Prinsentuin).
  • The hotel for teachers must be paid by their own. They allso have to take care and pay for their own dinners (not on Sunday and not on Friday). The diner on Wednesday will cost € 15,- per person.
  • There will be bikes available to do all the transports nearby the school and hotel. They are free to use and it's very good for nature.
